To ensure conditions at school are safe, when students in Wamena take odd semester-end exams, Jayawijaya Regional Police places a number of personnel at each school. Jayawijaya Police Chief, AKBP Dominggus Rumaropen said there were 112 personnel involved in guarding schools in Wamena City, so that the situation remained conducive.

According to him, in addition to alerting personnel at school, police activities were balanced with raids on sharp weapons and other sharp objects that were dangerous to the Kamtibmas. "Raids were carried out at a number of strategic points in the City of Wamena," he said.

Rumaropen added, security activities continue to run with the aim of providing protection for every public activity in the City of Wamena. "Raids and patrols were carried out to allay worries, fears, trauma and so on after the Wamena riot some time ago," he explained.

He admitted that there had been an effort from certain elements who tried to disrupt the situation in Wamena. However, this does not make students and the community afraid, because the school and the authorities act quickly. "On the first day at a school people came and then shouted, so in addition to providing security in schools, we do patrols and raids. So we do it at once," said Dominggus.

He also asked residents in Wamena not to be afraid if he saw security forces armed with a full circumference around the City of Wamena. "Don't be afraid if you see the police or the TNI, because we are here to provide protection," he explained.

Dominggus has also tried to approach students who have started school, so they can invite their friends who have not yet attended school.
