Papuan Students In The United States Are Enthusiastic About Deevelop Indonesia

The Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia (KJRI) in San Francisco participated in a series of Christmas celebrations organized by IMAPA USA (Papuan Student Association in the United States) in Everett, Washington state. As many as 130 Indonesian students from Papua in the United States attended the series of Christmas celebrations.
.
On the occasion, the representative of the Papua Provincial Government, Mr. Laus DC Rumayom, on behalf of the Governor of Papua Province who was unable to attend, expressed his appreciation for the launch of the IMAPA USA organization and hoped that the organization could become a means to enhance the role of Indonesian Papuan Indonesian students in the US to become agents of change in order to be able to build a better Papua province in the future.
.
Furthermore, Laus D.C Rumayom, S.sos, M.Sc as a representative of the Government of the Papua Province, delivered a presentation on the Dynamics of Papua Development. He invited Papuan students to rise up and become agents of change where students were required to develop strategic thinking in order to face the challenges of global economic change and the ASEAN Economic Community.
.
In the question and answer session, students actively asked questions about education issues, and potential jobs that Papuan students in Indonesia could work on after they had completed their studies. They hope for support from representatives of the Indonesian government in the US to become a bridge through the provision of information on internship opportunities in start-up companies in Indonesia and the possibility of potential collaboration with technology companies in the US.
.
Michael Anis Labene, Chair of the US IMAPA said that with the development of technology-based economic enterprises that are increasingly increasing in Indonesia, Papuan students must learn about this potential. In addition, the current government program has helped to open up access to connectivity in Papua, and this is the right time for the millennial generation of Papua to enter and use the opportunities that have been available to develop the Papua province and other regions in Indonesia.
