The West Papua Provincial Government continues to encourage economic growth in coastal areas by optimizing the utilization of marine potential in the local area.

To realize that, on Friday, West Papua Governor, Dominggus Mandacan handed over aid in the form of boats and outboard motors, metic tents and umbrellas to coastal communities in Sorong City.

"The aid program was launched as a stimulant so that the community's business will progress," he said.

Through the West Papua Provincial Government Empowerment Service to assist fiber boats, outboard motors 15 PK and installation of solar cell lights. All of this assistance is a stimulant and in the future fishermen groups can develop their businesses.

While from the West Papua Department of Industry and Trade, assistance was given in the form of 114 tents and 212 umbrellas.

In addition to the City of Sorong, said the governor, through the Maritime and Fisheries Service, the West Papua Provincial Government also helped 42 units of fiber boats and outboard engines for fishermen in Raja Ampat Regency.

Through this assistance, the governor wants a fishery business and other businesses in the developing coastal region.

"There must be sustainability, the business must develop and have added value. So creativity and innovation is needed in running the business. This assistance is only as a stimulant," he said.

Dominggus Mandacan also stressed that the community made the most of this assistance. "A handful of people cannot even use it to sell it to other people," he said.
