By reason of disturbing the peaceful atmosphere of the community in celebrating Christmas and the New Year 2020, the Regent of Intan Jaya, Natalis Tabuni appealed to the non-organic troops of the Indonesian National Police who were in the area of ​​Intan Regency to be asked to leave the legal territory of Intan Jaya Regency.

Similar benefits were also directed at the National Liberation Army (TPN) of the Free Papua Organization. This appeal was also stated in the Circular of the Regent of Intan Jaya No. 300/212 / Bup dated December 20, 2019 which was signed by the Regent of Natalis Tabuni

The letter was shown to the leaders of the TNI and Polri of Intan Jaya Regency, leaders of the Intan Jaya Regency DPRD, community leaders, religious leaders, traditional leaders, youth leaders and women leaders from Intan Jaya Regency.

"The reason the contact was disrupting the peaceful atmosphere of the community in celebrating Christmas and the New Year 2020," wrote the circular, Saturday (12/21/2019).

Because previously there were several firefights between the TNI / Polri Law Enforcement Task Force and the Armed Separatist Criminal Group (KKSB) of the Papua Merdeks Organization this week, Intan Jaya. A shootout on Tuesday (12/17/2019) caused two Kopassus soldiers who were members of the Nanggala Task Force to die.

While the firefights that occurred on Thursday (12/19/2019) occurred twice in the Ugimba District, Intan Jaya Regency, Papua. First around 09.11 East Indonesian Time in Ugimba village and 09.47 East Indonesian Time in Gamagai village also caused three TNI personnel to be reported injured. However, until this news was revealed, it had not yet received official support from the TNI, either the Kodam XVII / Cenderawasih or the Puspen TNI.
