Government Prepares Rp 13 Trillion for Papua Development

The government has prepared a budget of up to Rp 13 trillion for Papua development which is allocated in the 2020 State Budget and Expenditure Plan (RAPBN).

In the Draft State Budget, it was stated that the special autonomy fund of Rp 8.337 trillion would be divided into two uses. First, IDR 5.861 trillion for Papua.

Second, Rp. 2,512 trillion for West Papua. In addition to the special autonomy fund, the government also poured other funds for the development of Papua amounting to Rp 4.68 trillion.

Quoted from the website of the Cabinet Secretariat, Tuesday (8/20), the funds are intended for additional infrastructure financing in the context of the special autonomy of Papua and West Papua. In addition to Papua, the government also poured funds for two other regions.

Therefore, the government will continue to develop various economic zones outside Java, continuing industrialization in the form of mining and plantation downstreaming. The government will also develop several metropolitan areas outside Java, so that they can become new economic sources.
