KKB Against the TNI Against the PNG Border

Indonesia was grieving again, when the TNI along with eight of its colleagues serving at the Bewan Baru Post were on their way to take logistics at the Kali Asih Post for about 2 hours, in the middle of their trip they were intercepted by the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) which was allegedly a Jefrizon Pagawak group.

As a result, a TNI soldier named Serda Miftachur Rohmat was hit by a gunshot wound to the front left shoulder and was declared dead. Meanwhile, his colleague Prada Juwandhy Ramadhan suffered a gunshot wound (rekoset) on his right temple and left waist survived.

After the incident that occurred on Tuesday (12/30/2019) around 10:30 CEST, the TNI officers pursued and tightened guard at the RI-Papua New Guinea (PNG) border.

"Kodam XVII / Cenderawasih immediately ordered other post members who were around the Bewan Baru Post to chase the group and close off escapes that might be used by the group to PNG Neighboring Countries," said Kapendam XVII / Cenderawasih Colonel Cpl Eko Daryanto, in Jayapura, Monday (12/30/2019).

Kodam XVII / Cenderawasih has also coordinated with the Indonesian Consulate in PNG to take diplomatic steps to handle the case. Likewise, Pamtas posts throughout the Republic of Indonesia and PNG have been ordered to increase awareness and preparedness to anticipate further actions from the KKB.
