KKB Still Threaten Papua Peace in 2020

Papua Regional Police Chief Inspector General Paul Waterpauw said the disruption carried out by the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) would still color Kamtibmas in 2020. To reporters he explained, the Police would form a special team to eradicate the KKB.

"That is to carry out mapping, chasing and arrest and process according to the laws applicable to members of the KKB in Papua," said Inspector General Paulus Waterpauw in Jayapura.

To overcome the disorderly Kamtibmas conducted by the KKB, he added, the police would coordinate with the local government to issue regulations to prohibit the existence of CBOs carrying out activities contrary to Pancasila, the 1945 Constitution and the Republic of Indonesia.

In addition, the police will also increase synergy and integration with stakeholders to create a conducive Kamtibmas situation in Papua so that development can take place optimally in order to improve the welfare of the community.

"The threat of the KKB is not only to the security forces but also citizens, causing it to be unable to move normally due to fear," he continued.
