Special Autonomy Funds of 4.34 Trillion for West Papua

In 2020, West Papua Province will get a special autonomy fund allocation (otsus) of Rp 4.34 trillion, of which the Special Autonomy fund will be distributed for several program activities. Among the allocation for village funds in each village in the district / city in West Papua amounting to Rp 225 million.

Head of the West Papua Special Autonomy Implementation Administration Bureau Abner Singgirgaran said the allocation for the village was Rp 150 million and the allocation for the district was Rp 100 million.

"With the budget given to the kelurahan and greater disrik, it is expected to be able to support infrastructure development in the area," he said, Friday (13/12).

The West Papua Provincial Government, said Abner, proposed two options related to the revision of Law Number 21 Year 2001 regarding special autonomy for the Provinces of Papua and West Papua.

"The first option is the total revision of the special autonomy law, or revision of article 34 related to finance. This needs to be done because Otsus will end in 2021," he said.

The West Papua Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD) and the West Papua People's Assembly (MRP), which are currently conducting a study in relation to the Special Autonomy Law.

"We will also certainly coordinate with the Government of the Papua Province, because this concerns the interests of the two provinces. It must be discussed together so that one vote," he said.

If all documents are ready, a public test will be conducted in the future. According to him, this is important to do to absorb the aspirations of the concept in the revision. Furthermore, related to the allocation of special autonomy funds received by Papua received an allocation of 70 percent and West Papua received an allocation of 30 percent.
