The Vice Minister of PUPR asked for the construction of the trans Papua road to be completed on time

The construction of the Trans Papua Road from the end of 2018 to 2019 is often hampered due to security disturbances from the armed criminal groups (KKB). To pursue the target of connecting all these lines in 2020, there is a discourse that the TNI will be trusted to work on Trans Papua at a number of vulnerable points.

Head of the Jayapura XVIII National Road Executing Agency (BBPJN), Osman Marbun, said that in 2019, the TNI would have been involved in supporting the construction of the Wamena (Jayawijaya) -Mbua (Nduga) road section.

Head of the XVIII National Road Implementation Agency (BBPJN), Directorate General of Highways of the Ministry of PUPR, Osman Harianto Marbun said the development progress of a number of trans-Papua roads has reached 97 percent. The rest of the work will be completed in 2020.

"The completion of the Trans Papua road completion program for the border is still 179 kilometers, from Oksibil in Gunung Bintang Regency towards Jayapura. In essence, we are waiting for safe conditions, then the work is completed. However, we make sure that next year all [roads] are finished, "he said.

Deputy Minister of Public Works and Public Housing, John Wempi Wetipo asked that the work on the trans Papua road which had been delayed due to security problems could be resolved on time. The existence of this road is very helpful to the government in suppressing the costly prices in Papua.

This was conveyed by John Wempi Wetipo after exercising with all employees of the Ministry of Public Works and Housing (PUPR) in Jayapura, Monday (2/12/2019). "We hope that the work on the Trans Papua road will not be hampered, so that it can be immediately completed and utilized by the community," Wetipo said.

He said, so far the community only knew of the construction of the Jayapura - Wamena road section. In fact there is also the construction of the Jalan Bintang - Jayapura, Boven Digoel - Yahukimo, and Merauke - Mappi roads. He said the construction of the entire trans Papua road was the concern of the Ministry of PUPR.

"All of this is still continuing. We hope that next year (2020) everything will be completed according to the target, "he said.
