The Association of Indonesian Catholic Journalists (PWKI) gave awards to five figures who were considered to be actively involved in building the values of Pancasila, especially the Indonesian Unity in diversity.
.
The "Thank You to You 2020" award was presented at the 15th Open New Year Together in 2020 which took place at the Dwi Warna Building, Lemhannas RI Complex, Friday night.
.
The five figures, namely musician Didi Kempot, director Joko Anwar, social activist Gracia Billy Yosaphat Y Mambrasar, youngest legislator Hillary Brigita Lasut, and Bekasi Mayor Rahmat Effendi.
.
Of the five figures, only Billy Mambrasar received the award directly, while four other figures were unable to attend or leave early because there were other activities. Billy Mambrasar, recipient of the award who is also the President's Special Staff, expressed his pride in being a child who was educated in two cultures.
.
"Billy was born in Papua, a native Papuan father, a Javanese mother. He grew up in Papuan culture," said the founder of the Kitong Bisa Foundation, who is "concerned" about the education of children in Papua and West Papua.
.
Billy said he was grateful to be born from two different cultures, because differences were not something that was limiting, but rather made him able to see two different dimensions and be able to combine them.
.
"Didi Kempot's songs were always played by my mother, so I memorized them. What I always remember, the only bridge between differences is love," he said.
