The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) has completed the construction of the Skouw Integrated Support Facility (PLBN) located in Muara Tami District, Jayapura City. Infrastructure support for the Sub-Core Zone is a development of the PLBN Core Zone which was inaugurated by President Joko Widodo in 2017.

PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said, the continued development of the Skouw border area was President Joko Widodo's instruction in supporting socio-economic activities in the Skouw PLBN area as Indonesia's foremost veranda.

This PLBN development is not only the pride of the Indonesian nation as a big nation, but the most important thing is the function of defense and security as well as a new center of economic growth in the Indonesia-Papua New Guinea (PNG) border region.

Development of the Sub-Core Zone began in 2017 with an APBN budget of Rp 246.5 billion. At present all physical support facilities reach 100%. Its construction is on an area of ​​12.20 hectares with a total building area of ​​9,921 m2, which includes official employee houses, Wisma Indonesia, multipurpose buildings, mosques, churches, public facilities (rest areas, ATM centers), social facilities (green open spaces) , and TNI / POLRI posts.

A commercial and market area of ​​304 stalls was also built on an area of ​​3,600 m2. Market design consists of wet stalls, dry stalls and open stalls that do not use a roof cover totaling 50 stalls.

In this area 50 units of special houses for the border communities in Skouw Village, Muaratami District have also been built and revitalization of 50 units of special houses for civil servants / ASNs in Skouw Mabo Village, Muara Tami District.

The special housing unit has Type 36 which consists of 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom and 1 living room, which is equipped with environmental roads, clean water, sanitation, drainage and electricity. Support of settlement infrastructure around the border in the form of a 50 liter / second Water Supply System (SPAM), among others, to serve 577 House Connections.

Previously the Ministry of Public Works and Housing through the Directorate General of Human Settlements had completed the construction of Phase 1 of the Skouw Integrated PLBN which was focused on the 10.7 Ha Core Zone with a total building area of ​​4,761 m2.

The construction includes the main PLBN building, integrated cargo inspection building, Utilities, checkpoints and arrivals, clinics, car wash, confiscated warehouses, weigh bridges, pedestrian corridors, as well as gates and Cross-Country Monuments (TASBARA). The amount of the APBN allocation for the Phase 1 Integrated Skouw PLBN development is Rp 165.9 billion.

To facilitate access to PLBN, complete the construction of the Youtefa Bridge or known as the Holtekamp Bridge which will speed up travel time from Jayapura City to the border. Now Jayapura-Skouw can be reached in just 60 minutes. Skouw Integrated PLBN distance from Sentani Airport, Jayapura is about 82 Km by land.
