The Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Welfare (Menko PMK) Muhadjir Effendy said, Indonesia's easternmost region must be aligned with the regions of West and Central Indonesia. The Jawasentris mindset will also disappear from the social, political and economic aspects.

"Human development and infrastructure in Papua must be the same as other regions. Mindset Jawasentrisme we need to erase so that there is no gap. But most importantly, the multiplication effect must be felt by the people of Papua with the existence of PON and infrastructure development, "said Muhadjir.

During his visit to several venues, Muhadjir was optimistic that Papua could succeed as the organizer of the XX National Sports Week (PON) which will be held on 20 October 2020.

"Hopefully these stadiums and venues that have been designed with international standards will not only be used for PON, but can also be used for post-PON events so that this place becomes the center of Hockey and Cricket activities both on national and international scale," he said.

Muhadjir Effendy also appreciated the completion of the construction of the Bangkit Papua Stadium which will be one of the locations of the 2020 National Sports Week (PON). According to Muhadjir, this stadium is a tangible manifestation of development from eastern Indonesia.

"Hopefully this international standard stadium can hopefully support the realization of the big dream of turning Jakartasentris and Jawasentris into Indonesiasentris," he said while reviewing the readiness of the Rising Papua Stadium in Jayapura, Papua.

Muhadjir said that the construction of the stadium was expected to be able to open up economic and civilization opportunities in eastern Indonesia. He also appreciated the Provincial Government (Pemprov) of Papua together with ministries and related parties who have successfully built the Papua Bangkit Stadium in a period of three years.

"We know that Indonesia's problem is the spatial disparity between the eastern and western regions. With the construction of this extraordinary sports facility, it is not only a matter of pride but also accelerates development to catch up in the east," Muhadjir said.
