BKPM Wants Many Investors to Invest in Papua

Since January 2019 the capital market industry in Papua Province has experienced growth in terms of the number of investors, transaction value, educational activities and others.
.
In addition, the total number of investors themselves for Papua currently reaches 6,137. It is known that there are 4,303 investors in Jayapura alone, while in Timika 656 and 442 investors in Merauke.
.
The head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Bahlil Lahadalia brought a delegation of Papuan officials to visit a number of strategic investors in China. This effort is to increase investment in the easternmost region of Indonesia.
 .
Bahlil said that so far investment in Papua has lagged far behind other provinces in Indonesia.
 .
"We want investment in Papua to increase. Moreover, Papua is very strategic and has abundant natural resources," Bahlil was quoted as saying through his official statement, Friday, December 6, 2019.
.
Not only natural resources, according to him Papua is very strategic in developing manufacturing industries or processing industry centers.
 .
"Ore in Australia, Morowali, and the Philippines can be processed in Papua. Regarding security, Papua is very safe. Investors do not need to worry. That is the matter of the central and regional governments. Here the Commander and Chief of Police are in charge of the security of your investment," said Bahlil.
.
Previously, the Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BPKM) Bahlil Lahadalia argued that the rate of economic growth in Papua Province could not progress massively without investment. "Maybe with BUMD, we can increase its value, because Papua's economic growth cannot progress massively without investment," he said.
.
Since being appointed and appointed by President Jokowi to assist in the Advanced Indonesian Cabinet some time ago, Bahlil admitted that it was his first time to go outside the region, namely to Papua to hold a coordination meeting with the head of the local regional organization (OPD).
