After the Riot, the Security Situation in Intan Jaya was Conducive

The Papua Regional Police ensured that the current security conditions in Intan Jaya were in a conducive situation and residents could carry out their activities calmly. This was ensured following the armed clashes nearing Christmas 2019 between the security forces and the Armed Criminal Group (KKB).

"The Intan Jaya situation is conducive. I have confirmed with the police chief, there was no armed contact," said Head of Public Relations Papua Police, Senior Commissioner AM Kamal, in Jayapura, Tuesday (7/1/2020).

Even so, the security forces at Intan Jaya are always ready to anticipate any security threats that may occur. He also asked the public to not easily believe the information circulating about security disturbances in Intan Jaya, because the KKB always made false news to terrorize the residents.

It was reported earlier that during a gun battle in Intan Jaya, on 17 December 2019, two TNI soldiers were killed. They are First Lieutenant, Erizal Zuhri Sidabutar and Serda Rizky. Then, on December 19, 2019, armed contact resumed in the Ugimba District, resulting in three TNI soldiers suffering gunshot wounds.
