Papua Doreri Tribal Culture and Arts Festival

Pre-celebration of the 165th anniversary of the Gospel Message (PI), 2020 in Manokwari, the Large Family of the Doreri, will hold a cultural festival. The cultural festival will be held on Lemon Island, East Manokwari District, West Papua.

The cultural festival that was discussed was not only involving the culture of Papua, but also the culture of the indigenous people of the Nusantara who live in Manokwari. Various ethnic groups were also involved in the festival. Therefore, it has now opened registration for other tribes, who want to be involved in cultural festivals.

Chief of the Doreri Manokwari Tribe Gaad Hendrik Rumfabe said the cultural festival activities were carried out in the context of celebrating the 165th Anniversary of the Gospel Spread which fell on February 5, 2020 at Mansinam Manokwari.

He said, the Cultural Arts Festival will be held on January 31, 2020. "We Doreri tribe will organize cultural arts festival activities, fishing competitions as well as fraction competitions. The cultural arts festival will be held on Manokwari Lemon Island on January 31," he said.

Then after that the fishing competition continued on February 3 and the fraction on February 5, 2020. "While the macing competition and fraction competition, will be held on February 5, 2020," said Gaad Hendrik.

"For a fishing competition open to the public with a location between Mansinam Island and Lemon Island," he said. Registration for this competition category starts Monday (01/20/2020) tomorrow. The conditions will be submitted later.

While the fraction competition will tell the landing of Ottow and Glaiser when they brought in the Gospel on Mansinam Island on February 5, 1858 ago. "For the fraction competition we will also coordinate with the Mansinam Anniversary committee," he explained.

He hopes that people who want to watch festival activities will be present on January 31, 2020 on Lemon Island. Later, the festival will also present local musician Sandi Betay who will sing songs with spiritual nuances.
