Yahukimo Regional Government Plans to Open Makassar - Sorong - Dekai Flight Routes

The Regional Government (Pemda) of Yahukimo Regency plans to open the Makassar - Sorong - Dekai route, utilizing wide body aircraft, such as Batik Air and Citylink. This was stated by the Regent of Yahukimo Abock Busup, STh, MA.

It was explained, his party had met the Director General of Transportation in December 2019, and later on 2 or 3 February 2020 a wide body aircraft landing test would be carried out from Makassar-Sorong-Dekai.

Regent Abock said, Nop Goliat Dekai Airport has a runway length of 2,500 meters, and the land is flat so it is ideal for wide body aircraft.

Previously, the Minister of Transportation, Budi Karya Sumadi, said that he would develop the Nop Goliat Airport, Dekai, Yahukimo Regency in 2020.

This is to make Nop Goliat Airport one of the transit airports for tourists in addition to Wamena in Jayawijaya Regency.

"We will have more development movement there. In addition to preparing for wide-bodied aircraft, we will also prepare for the construction of two pioneering airports in the Districts of Korupun and Soba, "said the minister.
